“Taking it to the Streets” is a three-part series of workshops presented by three pastors in the Wichita East District (Kansas West Conference).  The series is designed to help congregations turn their focus outward to their communities through prayer walking, knocking on doors and surveying the community around them and then taking what they learned and turning that into ministry action plans for their congregations.

Rev. Rob Schmutz kicked off the series with a workshop on Prayer Walking. Schmutz is the pastor of the new United Methodist Church at Park City. The Schmutz and members of the launch team have spent countless hours claiming the Park City community for Christ through prayer.

Rev. Kevass Harding led the second workshop, Knock and Greet. Harding is the pastor of Dellrose UMC in Wichita. When he became the church’s pastor in 1998, he and his wife went door-to-door, meeting the people surrounding the church and learning about who they are and their needs by asking a few questions.

Rev. Rick Just led the final workshop, Now what? Just is the pastor at Mulvane UMC. He shared his PLAN for moving a congregation toward the changes needed to meet the needs of the community surrounding the congregation.

All three workshop sessions were filmed and are available on DVD for $5 each or $10 for the entire set through the Wichita East District Office. Contact Kara Lefto to order at klefto@kswestumc.org.
